Gairloch Golf Club has a vibrant and growing junior section. Junior golf club membership is open to anyone still in full time education and are in Primary 4 or above. As a junior member you can play on the course at any time, subject to normal booking rules, can borrow golf clubs and can participate in our junior coaching program for free.
We offer junior coaching on Monday’s from Easter through October during term time. Times may vary depending on numbers and experience but the sessions last roughly one hour and we have lessons starting at approx. 3:45pm and 4:45pm. In 2015 we are trialling “drink and sandwiches” before the lessons to keeps the energy levels up for the lesson. Judging by how quickly all the food disappears, it must be working! Non-members are welcome to try out the lessons and if they want to attend after a few trial sessions we ask them to become junior members, which currently costs £35 per calendar year.
In 2015 we appointed Emily Morrison as our first junior captain. We were thrilled to be nominated for the 2014/15 RBS Junior Golf Club of the Year. We were one of three runners up and were awarded a prize of £500.
We can run junior competitions, both social and competitive, and we can organise for juniors to get their club handicap. These tend to be run when we have sufficient interest so just let us know if you want more information. During 2015 we played junior home and away matches against Strathpeffer. This is a first for the club and a fantastic, but tough, experience for the junior team.
If you want more information about anything to do with junior golf, please contact the club directly or our junior convener, Ian Graham at firstname.lastname@example.org.
